TeamCast's CMMB technology intensively tested with total success

New multi-standard CMMB/DTMB Modulation Platform announced at the NABShow 2009

Las Vegas (USA), 19 April 2009 – TeamCast and its Chinese partner, Digital Horizon, are announcing the launch of the MCX-2000 modulator, dedicated to support both DTMB and CMMB technologies on the same platform.

After having successfully addressed the CMMB and the DTMB market segments with two separate products, TeamCast has decided to merge these two technologies onto a unique hardware platform called “MCX”.

“Despite the fact that the CMMB and DTMB are focusing on separate service usages with different technologies, it makes sense to design a common digital modulator platform, as many features are very similar – for example: the stream input interfaces; the stream redundancy management; the 1PPS and 10MHz signal loss management; the RF up-converter characteristics and performances; etc.,” says Eric PINSON, Product Line Manager at TeamCast.

Just like all TeamCast modulators, the MCX product comes as an OEM solution which is very easy to integrate into clients’ transmitters. It delivers a RF signal output with best of class performance, providing a high MER value, excellent shoulder levels and extremely low phase noise. It integrates all the technological means to optimise the DTMB and CMMB signal transmissions, including digital linear and non-linear precorrection circuits and adjustable Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR).

“MCX is the cutting edge technology answer to any player who wishes to address the DTMB and the CMMB market opportunities in the most flexible and efficient way. It now becomes possible for our customers to build the equipment with the same bill of materials, to limit their stock holdings, and to configure their transmitter product to either DTMB or CMMB just before delivery!” adds Eric.

“After the successful work completed for the first deployment of CMMB and DTMB, we aim to consolidate the very close relationships that we have developed with the transmitter manufacturers. With MCX, it now becomes possible to meet our customers’ expectations for integrating a unique hardware platform into both DTMB and CMMB transmitters. MCX gives us the opportunity to set up a win-win strategy to address both the DTMB and CMMB emergent markets in China in the most efficient, secure and optimised way,” says Dr. Min ZHANG, CEO of Digital Horizon.
